LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Temperatures will remain below average today, with a chance for rain and snow across the region. Additional, though smaller, precipitation chances are expected Wednesday, Thursday, and early next week. Warmer, above-average temperatures are likely to return by the weekend.
Today will stay mostly cloudy to overcast, with rain possible across much of the area. In parts of western Nebraska, colder morning temperatures may bring a mix of rain and snow—or even light snow—before transitioning to rain. Rainfall totals will remain light, generally ranging from a trace to 0.10″ for most areas, though some locations in central and western Nebraska could receive up to 0.25″. Snow accumulation will also be minimal, with only a trace to a few tenths of an inch expected.
High temperatures on Tuesday will reach the mid-40s to mid-50s, well below normal for this time of year. North to northeast winds at 5 to 15 mph may make it feel even colder.
Cloud cover will decrease tonight as temperatures fall into the upper 20s to around 40. Frost and freeze concerns may develop in western Nebraska, so take steps to protect sensitive plants.
Wednesday will turn mostly sunny to partly cloudy and slightly warmer. Clouds will increase later in the afternoon and evening, bringing about a 20% chance of isolated showers. Highs will rise into the low to mid-60s, with north to northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph.
Thursday will feature partly to mostly cloudy skies, along with another 20% chance of isolated showers. High temperatures are expected to range from the upper 50s to the mid-60s.
Friday and Saturday are expected to remain dry and seasonable. Temperatures will warm through the weekend and into early next week, returning to above-average levels. There is a slight chance of rain late Sunday and again on Monday.
