Frost advisories and areas of fog will develop tonight into Wednesday, with cool conditions lasting through Friday before temperatures warm into the 70s by the weekend.

Wednesday won’t feel as cold

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A Frost Advisory covers parts of central and eastern Nebraska tonight into Wednesday morning, as temperatures are set to fall into the lower to mid-30s. If you have delicate plants or gardens, protect them now before the freeze arrives.

Across western Nebraska, patchy fog is expected to form Tuesday night into Wednesday, with pockets of dense fog possible during the Wednesday morning commute. Visibility may drop below a half-mile in some areas, so allow extra travel time early Wednesday.

Tonight: Frost Advisory & Fog Development

Clear skies moving in late Tuesday will allow temperatures to fall rapidly overnight, creating strong radiational cooling conditions. Recent rainfall across western Nebraska has increased low-level moisture, which, combined with light winds and clearing skies, will support fog formation—especially in western areas.

Frost is expected across central and eastern Nebraska, making this an important night for anyone with sensitive vegetation. Dress warmly for your morning commute—it will feel quite cold.

Wednesday: Patchy Fog, Then a Chance of Showers

Fog will linger into Wednesday morning and take time to clear as light winds persist through late morning. Some areas in the west may experience dense visibility, so drive carefully during your commute.

As the fog lifts, mostly sunny skies will dominate much of Wednesday afternoon, helping temperatures rise into the low to mid-60s—closer to average but still slightly below typical levels for this time of year.

A weak cold front arriving Wednesday evening will bring more clouds and a few light, spotty showers, especially across the far southwest. Most areas will see limited rainfall, but it’s worth monitoring conditions as the day ends.

Thursday and Friday: Cool and Unsettled

Any lingering precipitation should move out by Thursday evening. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies on Thursday, along with a slight chance of scattered light showers. Highs will trend cooler, ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s.

Friday will be drier, featuring a mix of sun and clouds with highs again in the low to mid-60s.

Weekend and Beyond: Warming Trend & Possible Fire Weather Concerns

Saturday will be mostly sunny and dry, with highs ranging from the 60s to near 70°. The warming trend strengthens on Sunday, with temperatures climbing into the mid-70s alongside a mix of sun and clouds, though a slight chance of rain remains.

By Monday and Tuesday, highs will reach the low to upper 70s, with small chances for rain both days. However, warmer temperatures combined with very low humidity—dropping into the lower teens to mid-20s—may elevate fire weather concerns, particularly if winds increase heading into the latter part of the weekend. Recent rainfall should help, but conditions should still be monitored closely.

There will be multiple chances for frost over the next several days.
