(Council Bluffs) – Authorities have charged a central Nebraska man with attempted murder following a cutting incident in Council Bluffs early Wednesday morning.

The Council Bluffs Police Department said officers responded to the 800 block of Avenue B just before 5 a.m. after receiving a report of a cutting. At the scene, officers found the victim, 53-year-old Gary G. Townsend of Omaha, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators later identified 27-year-old Moses S. Brown Jr. of Grand Island as the suspect. Police said he left the scene before officers arrived. Around 4 p.m., officers in Fremont, Nebraska located Brown and took him into custody without incident.
