The court set Michael Jones’ bond at $2 million and scheduled his preliminary hearing for May 11.
These court appearances stem from a shooting reported just after 1 a.m. Sunday near Carter Lake Shore Drive and Ames Avenue.
At the scene, Omaha Police said officers found a 19-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds and transported her to the hospital in critical condition.
Police later reported that two 20-year-old men also arrived at the hospital while officers were still at the scene. Investigators determined that both men were injured in the same Levi Carter Park shooting.
According to the police report, detectives interviewed Maurice Jones, who admitted he went to Carter Park with his brother Michael Jones.
Maurice Jones told investigators they were following a black car that stopped at the park, where they “observed numerous parties with ski masks and guns pointing at the vehicle he was in, and he fired two rounds into the ground,” the report states.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can contact Omaha Crime Stoppers anonymously at 402-444-7867, through the Omaha Crime Stoppers website, or by using the P3 Tips mobile app.
