OHIO — A 19-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday evening after a crash involving an SUV near Chillicothe, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 8:10 p.m. on U.S. 50 near Veterans Parkway in Scioto Township. Investigators reported that a woman driving a Hyundai Palisade was heading east on U.S. 50 and attempting to turn left onto Veterans Parkway when the collision occurred.

Authorities said the motorcyclist, identified as Ryan Hayes, was traveling west on U.S. 50 when his motorcycle struck the SUV’s left front. The impact threw Hayes from the motorcycle, and he slid off the right side of the roadway.

Emergency crews transported Hayes to Adena Regional Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The driver of the Hyundai was not injured in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
