MICHIGAN — A 44-year-old man from Ohio died in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 94 in Washtenaw County, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers responded to a crash report around 6:25 a.m. on April 18 in Sylvan Township.

Investigators said the man was driving a Toyota Matrix westbound on I-94 in rainy conditions when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway, entered a ditch, hit several small trees, and eventually crashed into a large tree on the driver’s side.

Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Police have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
