Frosty conditions are expected Monday night across Cincinnati, Ohio and Northern Kentucky, but a warming trend is on the way later this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, overnight temperatures could drop as low as 31°F into Tuesday morning.
A freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. on April 7 for much of the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.
Frost Could Impact Plants and Plumbing
Officials warn that frost and freezing temperatures could damage crops, kill sensitive plants, and potentially harm unprotected outdoor plumbing.
For those who have already moved plants outside for spring, using a frost cloth can help protect them. These lightweight fabrics allow airflow and sunlight while trapping heat from the soil.
Warmer Temperatures on the Way
The cold snap will be short-lived. Forecasters say temperatures will steadily rise throughout the week, reaching daytime highs in the mid-to-upper 70s by the weekend.
Sunday is expected to be especially warm, with highs near 84°F.
