State troopers located an 8-year-old girl from Wisconsin and her mother on I-80 Saturday and arrested a man accused of abducting them.
On Saturday afternoon, the Nebraska State Patrol received information that a vehicle linked to an AMBER Alert issued in Wisconsin was believed to be traveling through Nebraska, spokesperson Cody Thomas said.
Troopers spotted the vehicle west of Gretna heading west on I-80. The vehicle, a Buick Terraza, exited at the Greenwood interchange at mile marker 420 and turned north onto Nebraska Highway 63.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop and confirmed the driver was the suspect wanted in connection with the AMBER Alert.
Authorities identified the occupants as Irene Lentz and her mother, Betty Lentz. The driver, 44-year-old Joseph Nicpon, was arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail. Irene Lentz was placed in protective custody, while her mother will be questioned by Wisconsin authorities.
