THURMAN, Iowa — One person has died following an explosion at a salvage yard in southwest Iowa.

According to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, the explosion happened around noon at J-Dog Salvage in unincorporated Bartlett, about 30 miles south of Council Bluffs.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the explosion.

The incident remains under investigation.
