OMAHA, Neb. — A mistrial has been declared in the first-degree murder trial of Keanu Louis after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
According to Nebraska court records, the trial ended Thursday when the jury reported it was deadlocked. The court order stated the panel was split 10–2, resulting in a hung jury. Jurors were then discharged.
Louis is accused of killing DaeTiauna Kellogg, 20, on Nov. 6, 2022.
Despite the mistrial, Louis still faces the first-degree murder charge. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 27, where the next steps in the case will be addressed.
A second defendant in the case, Cameron Foster, 25, previously entered a no-contest plea on Oct. 15 to attempted second-degree murder. Foster was sentenced to 30 to 50 years in prison.
