Warm but Rainy Wednesday with Chance of Strong Storms

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Warm temperatures combined with rising moisture will drive a more active weather pattern into Wednesday. A slight chance of a few early morning storms may develop north of downtown, but the stronger opportunity is expected later in the day (11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday). Scattered showers and storms are more likely from late morning through the evening, with peak coverage during the early afternoon when temperatures are highest. A Marginal Severe Risk, level 1 out of 5, remains in place. While not everyone will experience storms, any that form could bring gusty winds, small hail, and isolated tornadoes.

This unsettled pattern continues into Thursday, though the overall storm threat appears more limited locally. Another Marginal Risk is in place, but most of the stronger activity is expected to remain well northwest of the area. Thursday will also bring another round of strong winds, with gusts once again exceeding 40 mph. It is also important to note that severe weather outlooks run from 8 AM to 8 AM, meaning Thursday’s risk extends into early Friday morning, when a higher storm threat is expected.

A more organized round of storms is likely early Friday as the lingering risk window comes to an end. After a brief break from late Friday into early Saturday, focus shifts to the weekend. Another wave of showers and storms is expected Saturday evening, continuing into early Easter Sunday. Some of these storms could be strong, and with repeated rainfall, many areas may receive one to two inches or more by Sunday afternoon.

Easter itself is not expected to be very pleasant. Temperatures will drop throughout the day as gusty winds develop. Conditions may begin near 50 degrees around midnight, but readings will fall into the 40s by the afternoon. Damp and muddy conditions in some areas could make outdoor plans and egg hunts messy.

The pattern finally begins to calm heading into next week. Conditions will turn drier, bringing a stretch of quieter weather, although temperatures will be cooler compared to the current warmth.
