The National Weather Service in Omaha is warning that a narrow band of snow and rapidly dropping temperatures could create slick roads during the Tuesday morning commute in parts of southwest Iowa, including Page County. The latest update shows a 40% to 60% chance of about 1 inch of snow stretching from eastern Nebraska into western Iowa.
Forecasters say temperatures will quickly fall below freezing as the snow develops, raising the likelihood that any accumulation will stick to untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time and be prepared for changing road conditions.
The highest chance for around 1 inch of snow is centered over the Omaha and Lincoln areas, with lower but still notable chances extending into nearby parts of western Iowa. Page County, along with communities like Clarinda and Shenandoah, sits near the southeastern edge of the expected snow band.
Officials said confidence in the forecast remains moderate, and the exact placement of the snow band could shift as the system develops. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on forecasts and check road conditions before traveling.
