Two major construction projects are set to begin across the Omaha metro starting Friday.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Crews will launch two high-impact construction efforts in different parts of the metro on Friday.

F Street will close Friday morning between 204th (Highway 6) and 213th Street for resurfacing work. Officials expect the closure to continue into early winter. In addition, crews will shut down the outside lanes of 204th Street in both directions between F and Q Streets starting Friday.

Closer to downtown, construction on the Farnam bridge over Interstate 480 will move into its next phase, requiring a full interstate closure over the weekend. The shutdown will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and is expected to last until no later than 6 a.m. Monday. Officials may partially reopen northbound lanes on Sunday.

The northbound detour will direct drivers to exit at Harney Street, travel east to 24th Street, head north to Douglas Street, and then go west to rejoin I-480 via the Douglas on-ramp.

For southbound traffic, the detour will send drivers to the 30th Street exit, continue south on Lincoln Boulevard, turn east onto Douglas Street, and then head south to re-enter I-480 from the 29th Street on-ramp.
