A global company has announced plans to expand its operations in the Omaha area.
Eaton Corp., which already operates a facility in central Omaha, plans to build a new 370,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Bellevue.
The power management company said the facility is expected to open in the first half of 2027 and will produce medium-voltage switchgear for data centers.
Mike Yelton, president of Eaton’s electrical sector, said the company is making “bold investments” to support growth.
“As we continue to invest in U.S. manufacturing, we’re grateful for the strong support from the state of Nebraska and the city of Bellevue,” Yelton said in a news release. “Our newest manufacturing investment builds on the incredible abilities of our long-term employees in the region.”
Eaton said employees from its existing central Omaha facility will relocate to the new site once it opens. The more than $30 million expansion is also expected to create about 200 new jobs in engineering, manufacturing, and production, with hiring set to begin later this year.
“Eaton’s investment in Bellevue marks a fantastic milestone for our community,” Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike said in the release. “We have made job creation the cornerstone of my administration, and we’re thrilled to partner with Eaton on this exciting new venture by bringing hundreds of jobs to Bellevue.”
The announcement comes less than a year after Eaton reported laying off 200 workers in Kearney, where it manufactured engine valves.
