OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) — Authorities in Douglas County have arrested a man after disturbing videos surfaced showing alleged abuse of multiple animals.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the case began in February 2026 when the Nebraska Humane Society received a complaint about the welfare of dogs near 21st and Vinton streets.
Investigators said the complaint included videos showing a man kicking, punching, and choking at least three dogs.
Investigation and search
Officials also confirmed that one of the dogs seen in the videos—a 10-year-old gray Chihuahua named Apollo—was brought to the Humane Society deceased in late January.
The Humane Society then partnered with sheriff’s investigators to identify the suspect.
On March 5, deputies and Animal Control officers executed a search warrant at the home of Freddy Garcia Jr..
During the search, authorities seized:

Three guinea pigs

One bearded dragon

Several fish
Arrest and charges
Garcia was arrested on March 13 and faces three counts of beating an animal.
Sheriff Aaron Hanson said the department takes animal cruelty cases seriously and works closely with partner agencies to hold offenders accountable.
The investigation remains ongoing.
