Iowa weather: Warmer days ahead in Iowa with 80s likely this weekend

On This Post

We will be warming up today with a bunch of melting as well. We began the day in the cold, with wind chills in the teens and 20s, but temperatures will rebound into the 50s and 60s this afternoon. Winds will stay relatively light, making it feel quite pleasant under partly cloudy skies. This marks the last morning for most of the state with freezing temperatures as a warming trend takes hold.

The rebound will briefly slow on Thursday as a weak front moves through. Highs will still reach the 60s, though a light north wind will return. Temperatures will then climb again into the 60s and 70s by Friday. Saturday will be the warmest day, but it will also bring breezier conditions, with southwest winds ranging from 10 to 20 mph—something to keep in mind for outdoor plans.

Stronger north winds will return Sunday as a cold front passes Saturday night, bringing the expected drop in temperatures for the weekend. Cooler conditions will start the new week, followed by another gradual warmup, with highs reaching the 60s again by midweek.
