OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) — The final suspect charged in the killing of Mursal Jama has been sentenced, closing the last remaining case tied to the 2024 shooting.
Fifteen-year-old Joseph Keyes was sentenced Monday to 35 to 70 years in prison after pleading no contest to two counts of robbery and two counts of use of a deadly weapon.
Authorities say Keyes was the last of six individuals charged in connection with Jama’s death.
Other suspects already sentenced
Several co-defendants previously received lengthy prison sentences:

Trenton Titsworth-Hunt — 50 to 70 years

Deasean Titsworth-Hunt — 50 to 70 years
Two additional juveniles faced different outcomes. One, who was 13 at the time of the shooting, was placed on comprehensive supervision probation. Another, who was 11, had charges dropped after being found not competent to stand trial.
Case details
All six suspects were originally charged in the fatal shooting of Jama, a 64-year-old Uber driver, on Aug. 13, 2024. Police said the group, ranging in age from 11 to 17 at the time, was involved in the incident.
The sentencing of Keyes marks the conclusion of the criminal cases related to Jama’s death.
